Reddington Wants a Seat at the Table... Why?

At the end of the last episode, Raymond meets with Laurel Hitchens to try and get a seat at the grown ups table. I've seen this posted in several different FB groups, and was wondering what you thought... Why does Raymond want it? Is it because it fits HIS own end game of dismantling them completely? Or has his involvement with the FBI and Elizabeth been just to get into this meeting in the first place? I personally find the latter hard to believe. My money is that he wants to take them down in his own way. And getting the meeting with Laurel to take the Director's now defunct seat is a small part of a much larger plan.
