Episode Preview: The Blacklist 3×17 “Mr. Solomon” Part 1
It’s been a long time, Blacklisters, and tomorrow we finally get our show back! As I sit here and watch the last episode that last aired, “The Caretaker”, it makes the wait until tomorrow night that much harder.
This week’s new episode of The Blacklist will bring us face to face with a man that we haven’t seen in a while: Mr. Solomon. Last we saw him was when he and Dembe traded places within the cells at the Post Office. But whatever became of him since then has been a mystery. In fact, I don’t believe we’ve revisited The Cabal since then, and I do believe it is time to get back there.
The cases that Reddington have been bringing to the Task Force, while they are always presented to further his own agenda, have been particularly thematic to Liz, Tom and the baby. Will she keep the baby? Will she forgive Tom and reconcile with him? So on and so on.
Personally, while my love for the show will not waiver, I haven’t exactly been sold on the episodes that have aired since the conclusion of The Director back in February. I’m not sure if those episodes were just THAT good that it is hard to measure up, or if it was the story of The Cabal and Liz’s legal predicament that kept me on the edge of my seat. Whatever the reason, I am glad that the story will be heading back into that direction and out of the realm it’s been living in these past several episodes.
Before we get into the preview for the next episode of The Blacklist, let’s take a quick trip down memory lane and get refreshed on where we left off…

Mr. Solomon Episode Preview: Press Release, Promo & Pictures
The day has finally come, and as the wedding bells begin to ring for Liz and Tom, someone is determined to try and put a stop to it. But who? While Raymond doesn’t want Liz to take the plunge with Tom, unless she’s dumping his body into the river with cement shoes, I doubt that he would ruin this day for her.
Chances are, the culprit will be Tom’s old boss, The Major. I am going to assume that it was he who was on the other end of the line when we last saw Gina Zanetakos, and we know that he’s got a score to settle with Tom. Since he is someone that Raymond knows, I have no doubt that Reddington will have a warning of some kind and that’s when he shows up at the church ready to protect Liz and the baby.
Or, since the episode is titled Mr. Solomon, there is a really good chance that he is the one behind the wedding day massacre. Would Laurel Hitchens really get him sprung and once again sic him on the Keens? Seems like a dumb move, but one way or another this man is going to be involved. The big question is, how?
Here is the official synopsis for this episode of The Blacklist:
04/07/2016 (09:00PM – 10:00PM) (Thursday): After Red (James Spader) learns that a tactical nuclear weapon is being targeted by thieves, it’s a race against the clock as the task force struggles to stop them — and prevent an imminent nuclear disaster. Meanwhile, Tom (Ryan Eggold) and Liz (Megan Boone) make a decision that will change their relationship forever.
There are a lot of questions still unanswered and not just in regards to the impending nuptials. The last thing we saw Liz say to Raymond was that some things cannot be forgiven. She’s been mad at him before, but don’t forget she’s pregnant. If there is one thing I know after having three kids, you don’t mess with a pregnant woman about something that is important to her, and we all know how important information is to Liz, especially in regards to her mother.
With the recent news of a spin-off for The Blacklist, and that not only Mr. Solomon (Edi Gathegi), but also Tom Keen (Ryan Eggold) will be headlining it, I cannot foresee this wedding having a happy ending. Do you think we will have the answer to the mystery of Katrina Rostova before the season ends? Will we ever learn more about the mysterious painting? Will Liz forgive Raymond for deceiving her about her mother?
Lots of questions to answer in the remaining handful of episodes this season. However, I have faith in Mr. Bokenkamp and the Writer’s Room, and I’m excited for the ride we are about to embark on. What are you most looking forward to seeing during the remaining episodes of The Blacklist?
The Blacklist 3×17 “Mr. Solomon”, Part 1, airs on Thursday, April 7th at 9/8C on NBC.
